Creating A Cosy Workplace Lounge

Taking breaks regularly is essential to remain productive throughout the day.

A lounge in an office setting, is a comfortable and casual area where employees can take a break, grab a snack, or have a meeting.  The purpose of a staff lounge is to provide a space away from the workstations and cubicles where employees can take a break from their work and recharge.

A well-designed lounge area can help boost morale and create a more positive work environment. A change of scenery at the office allows workers to disconnect from their stress and gain a new perspective.

Here are some tips to help in designing a welcoming lounge area.

  1. Prioritize functionality and optimize your space

Thoughtful placement of furniture and the right balance of seating and surfaces enable your lounge users to relax, converse, and enjoy this environment fully.

  1. Comfy Seating

Choose a mix of seating options, including sofas, armchairs, and bean bags to accommodate different preferences. It is important to find pieces that are not only comfortable but also durable and easy to clean. Bean bag chairs and floor pillows can also be fun additions for a more casual atmosphere.

  1. Create a Relaxing Ambiance

Lighting: Use a combination of natural and artificial lighting to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Consider adjustable lighting options.

  1. Make your lounge area attractive

Colors and Decor: Choose calming colors and decor that reflect the company’s brand and culture. Add artwork, plants, and other decorative elements to enhance the space.

  1. Add Amenities

Include a coffee station, water dispenser, and snacks. A small fridge can be a nice addition.

A lounge should be a comfortable, casual and inviting space that encourages relaxation and socialization. The addition of cozy furniture, soft lighting, and even some ambient music can all help set the tone for a relaxed atmosphere.
